When I stare at this image I took of the Irish Sea, at first I see a large wave crashing, but in truth it is low cloud upon a calm sea, a hint of blue sea in the distance where the clouds have parted give a hint of a cloudless sky far out to sea.
What an adventure. India and her beautiful, generous and amazing people, the culture, the bustling crazy towns and beautiful remote villages set amongst lush paddy fields and tea plantations. An amazing place to document a motorbike ride with 46 people. Now to edit over 2300 shots and create a book to remember the adventure. I rode with www.globalenduro.com
Huge landslides either side of this remote Himalayan village meant we were stuck for three days, but what a view. Shot this very short stop frame animation with the amazing Nikon D3X. It records what the eye cannot see.
I leave on Sunday morning with 40 other people to share a brilliant, life affirming motorbike adventure, I’ve photographed this charity ride 4 times, each time I am humbled and moved by the scenery and people of India. We travel through Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, in and out of the Western Ghats mountain range. I will post some images of this years ride, but in the meantime here are a few from last year. The ride is organised by www.enduroindia.com … I can’t wait.
I took this photograph recently when I was documenting another adventure in the Himalayas, this time we were taking 18 retired or serving UK military personnel who were wheelchair users or PTSD sufferers. We traveled by jeep and motorbike with and without sidecars. The trip was a test to see the positive effect it might have. The results were incredible. This is also my favourite valley in the world, I have been fortunate to pass through it 3 times, each time at a different time of the year and at a different hour. A friend of mine was the film maker… if you have a few minutes to watch his short film you will not be dissappointed.
I think we can now assume that Christmas is well and truly over.
This is a rather forlorn but common sight in the area I live.
Happy New Year.
